Help
Write to trdmitriisamoilenko@gmail.com with a question, a problem or a translation that came out wrong. Say which phone and watch you use, and which languages.
The first start
Cranslate asks to download two models, 2.5 GB in all, and needs about 2.6 GB of free space. A Wi-Fi connection is best; on a metered connection the app asks first. You can pause the download and go on later, and it goes on when you leave the app. After that, Cranslate works without the internet.
A session on the phone
Choose the language the person speaks under From, and yours under To. Tap the microphone and hold the phone toward the person. Each phrase appears with its translation; the newest is on top. Tap again to stop. The session also stops by itself after the silence chosen in Settings.
A session from the watch
- Wear OS: install Cranslate on the watch from Google Play. Settings on the phone, under Your watch, can open its page on the watch. Open Cranslate on the watch and tap the screen to start or stop. Keep "Ready for your watch" on in the phone's Settings: then the phone listens too, from your pocket, which hears better than the watch alone.
- Apple Watch: in the Watch app on the iPhone, find Cranslate under Available Apps and install it. Open Cranslate on the watch and tap the screen to start or stop.
The watch shows the newest translation in large text, and taps your wrist when a new line arrives. Turn the crown to read earlier lines.
Better recognition
- Be close to the person who speaks: within one or two meters is best.
- Point the phone's microphones toward the person, not into a pocket lining.
- Choose the language the person really speaks. Cranslate does not guess it.
- Loud traffic and music lower the quality, as for any listener.
Your data
Everything stays on the phone. Settings, under History and privacy, turns History off and deletes the saved lines and audio. Removing the app removes all of it. See the privacy policy.
Licenses
The models and the software Cranslate is built from are listed on the licenses page.
